APOLLO - The International Art Magazine - Roxana Halls & Katherine Parkinson

Roxana Halls has created portraits for The BBC Arts production of Katherine Parkinson's play Sitting. The film was part of the Lights Up season first broadcast on BBC Four and is available to view via the BBC iPlayer: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000ty09

"Following a run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and subsequent transfer to the Arcola Theatre as part of a BBC Arts and Avalon playwrights initiative, BAFTA Award winning actor Katherine Parkinson’s (Home, I’m Darling, The IT Crowd) debut play Sitting has been adapted to the screen, in the hour-long comedy-drama produced by Avalon premiering in 2021. Starring Parkinson for the first time and directed by former Headlong’s Artistic Director and Oliver Award nominated Jeremy Herrin (People, Places & Things, Talking Heads), this new production follows three characters as they sit in the studio of a silent painter. In these sittings, ‘Luke’, ‘Cassandra’ and ‘Mary’ share their secrets with 'John' who becomes their stand-in psychiatrist, uncovering parts of themselves in the process. Award winning figurative painter Roxana Halls’ (National Portrait Gallery’s B.P. Portrait Award, The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition) work will feature."

Roxana Halls & Katherine Parkinson were interviewed about the project for APOLLO - The International Art Magazine and you can read the article here:
